Going to Ohio State to train under its track and field coach, Larry Snyder, the young African American athlete quickly impresses with his tremendous potential that suggests Olympic material. I truly have to say that this movie could not have came out at a better time. We need more movies to let young people know not just African Americans that they are very much capable for changing the world, even when it seems scary and frighting. I love biography movies for the main reason that when you watch or read about someone, and their tribute to life itself it encourages you to do so much more. I have learned many things from this movie not only that CHANGE can happen even with a SINGLE person. JESSE OWENS has made world breaking changes that should not be forgotten. I truly enjoyed this movie , I recommend everyone to watch this movie. Its a Wonderful History lesson about RACISM, UNITY and standing up for what you believe in even if the world does not give a damn about you, whether its because of the Color of your skin or your religion.
This movie takes place during the time of Hitler’s Reign over Germany, as well as the Segregation of African Americans and White people. The Two most difficult times I truly feel due to I am both African American and German. In order to learn who you are you much understand and learn where you come from. The German’s where in the process of taking away all rights against the Jews and anyone who was not WHITE . I appreciate the clarity in this movie and the way they portrayed these important historical events because, you truly do not get to experience the moments of history as your parents to ancestors but in movies. This movie shows the beauty of Unity and the Overcoming of trials and tribulations and anyone could go through. Jesse Owens was an AFRICAN AMERICAN MAN who not only had to deal with people trying to discourage him because of his SKIN COLOR but also not worrying about what other people taught and do what he enjoyed to do.
I apologize if anyone is offended by this Review… I am not a racist by any means.. just an honest opinion and my thoughts on this amazing movie that I had to honor of watching.
